Making the Case for Faith
Download PDFLaunched in 1870 in a time of growing scepticism about God and the Bible, the Christian Evidence Society has argued the case for faith for over 150 years. This highly readable short history of the Society follows the Society’s activists as they spoke at drawing room meetings in the 1870s, from horsedrawn carriages in the 1910s, on soap boxes at Speakers’ Corner in the years covering the First and Second World Wars – and then onto radio programmes in the 1990s and 2000s, blogging in the 2010s, and gathering webinar audiences in the 2020s during the Covid pandemic. In these wildly different ways, the Christian Evidence Society has sought to remain true to its original vision of providing good reasons to embrace the way of Jesus in very different times.
