Miranda Threlfall-Holmes: Will the poor always be with us?

In this episode of our Questions of our Times series, we talk with Dr Miranda Threlfall-Holmes, Archdeacon of Liverpool, about how poverty affects the health of communities and individuals.

Ordained as an Anglican priest in 2004, Miranda served her curacy in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, before ministering in former coal-mining communities of County Durham. Seventeen years later, she crossed the Pennines to become a team rector in inner-city Liverpool. Miranda is an historian, author and former director of Micah Liverpool, a faith-based initiative challenging social injustice and poverty. She became Archdeacon of Liverpool in 2023.

The host for Questions of Our Times is Major Nigel Bovey, former editor of the Salvation Army magazine The War Cry, and the author of several books, including his latest book, Browsing the Bible.
