Richard Dannatt: War, what is it good for?

In this webinar conversation in the Questions of our Times series, Lord Richard Dannatt, Head of the British Army from 2006 to 2009 and now a member of the House of Lords, gives his personal views on war, peace and faith, in response to the question: War, what is it good for?

Lord Dannatt has served in Belfast (where he was awarded the Military Cross), Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, he became Chief of the General Staff – the head of the British Army. After military life, in 2011 he was ennobled and today fights political battles as a crossbench peer in the House of Lords. He has long been a champion of the need for more resources for serving and veteran personnel. His autobiography, published in 2010, is Leading from the Front.

The host for Questions of Our Times is Major Nigel Bovey, former editor of the Salvation Army magazine The War Cry, and the author of several books. His latest book, Browsing the Bible is a guide for anyone who wants to get started (or who wants to keep on reading) the Bible. Find our review of the book here: A guide to browsing the Bible.
