New Questions of our Times series now available on video

Last November, as the nights deepened, the temperatures dropped, and the shadows grew longer, we dived into the darker aspects of human experience with ‘Bringing light into darkness’, the fifth outing of our interview series, Questions of our Times.

In four online radio and video interviews, Nigel Bovey, the series host, engaged with authors, theologians, and everyday believers to explore how the Christian faith speaks into the reality of evil, death, violence and the paranormal. The series was broadcast live on Premier Christian Radio, which allowed time for live audience questions.

The four episodes are now available on video:

Matt Arnold: Do things really go bump in the night?

Matt Arnold, speaker, founder of the Christian Paranormal website, and author of the book The Invisible Dimension: Spirit Beings, Ghosts and the Afterlife, talks about the relationship between the Christian faith, spiritual experience, and the paranormal.

Gwen Adshead: Is there such a thing as sin?

Dr Gwen Adshead, forensic psychotherapist, Reith Lecturer, and author of the book The Devil You Know, shares her professional experience and reflections on sin, crime and moral responsibility.

Helen Paynter: Why does God cause bloodshed?

Dr Helen Paynter, founding director of the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence, and author of the book God of Violence Yesterday, God of Love Today? talks about the troubled relationship between faith and violence.

What is a good death?

Dr Claire Gilbert, theologian and ethicist, and author of Miles to Go Before I Sleep, talks about her experience of cancer, and about the difficult questions raised by end-of-life issues.

Our guests in Questions of our Times did some thinking out loud with the help of journalist and series host Major Nigel Bovey, former editor of the Salvation Army newspaper The War Cry.
